Simon and Kara Stewart and their children – Scarlett, Ezra and Bobby – live where the couple grew up, in Colac, but the little township of Birregurra has a sweet spot in their hearts, for it is where they first kissed. No surprise that it is here that they brought to life their passion for fresh, authentic and creative food, when they opened Yield in the Spring of 2018.

The Providore, attached to the restaurant is stocked with locally made artisan produce, like jams, chutneys, and crafts. It’s a perfect stop to buy some treats for your pantry or local gifts for your loved ones.

Their Restaurant embodies their belief that dining is an experience best shared with loved ones. At Yield, theres no show - just genuine, masterfully prepared food, from the very heart and soul. The service is no short of being received as a dear friend or family - warm, caring and deeply knowledgable about every ingredient and its source. The menu highlights vegetables grown organically in local paddocks, on site in their lovely garden in Birregurra, or in Kara and Simon’s back yard. Their intention has always been to connect diners with their community, building a stronger link between farmers, makers and producers.

Their share plate style menu changes daily and with the seasons, made up of what is available from local farmers and growers. Seasons are prolonged by pickling and fermenting, and the liquor menu is carefully sourced from small Victorian producers.

You are sure to enjoy every mouthful of the generous and varied fare and be surprised by creative approach to many dishes. Their home-baked bread is a hearty meal in itself that you wish you could take home. You won’t leave a crumb, but walk away with plenty of nourishing and lasting memories of a genuine connection to this abundant region, its fabulous produce and its wholesome people.
