A Beautiful Rainforest Retreat

Welcome to the Homestead at The Source, Otways - a retreat for nature and culture lovers, where tech-free slow pace, spectacular nature and curated art & interior decor are intentionally designed for a rejuvenating and inspiring experience. Reconnect with yourself, your loved ones, and come back to your Source.

On arrival, as you come through the gate up the treelined driveway, look out for Barry, the resident Koala, and the cows on the nearby paddock, who curiously greet the visitors. You'll drive up directly to the Homestead and park your car under cover, right near the entrance, for easy unpacking.

The Homestead is elegantly styled with country chic decor and original collector artworks throughout, and features all the essential conveniences and some little luxuries for a comfortable, relaxing and memorable stay. There are three separate bedrooms that sleep up to 10 guests. The Homestead is ideal for two couples and up to 6 singles/children - all beautifully styled and featuring lovely fresh linen, pillows, doonas, and blankets for your comfort. The Master Bedroom features a king-sized bed, whilst the Garden View Bedroom has a generous queen-sized bed. The Bunk Bedroom has custom-made inbuilt tiered beds for 4 singles / children, with additional 2 pull-out trundle beds, as well as a TV for kids’ movie night. (If you are staying with a little one, a portacot and highchair are also available on request.)

The separate modern bathroom has a toilet, garden view bathtub with shower, and a vanity, with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hairdryer provided for your convenience.

Enjoy and relax in the spacious living room that has huge windows facing the spectacular garden. Lounge on the spacious L-shaped couch, playing board games, chatting in front of the log fire, or tucked up with a book on the king chaise-lounge. Wait up until dark and explore the Milky Way stars with our telescope. Besides the splendid log fire heater, there is a heater in every rom for those particularly chilly nights, and ceiling fans for the hotter Otways days.

The adjoining modern kitchen is equipped with a full sized fridge, coffee machine, kettle, chef-style cooktop and oven, full set of tableware and all the pots/pans to cook up a feast for your loved ones to serve in the open plan dining room. The dining area features two skylights, a beautiful oak dining table, French antique furniture and collector artworks for you to enjoy sharing memories and home cooked meals from locally sourced produce.

If you decide to head out for a meal, make your way down to Apollo Bay or Forrest to one of the local eateries (see our recommendations) for a fabulous country fair.

Enjoy the sunshine on the beautiful wooden deck facing the lush garden with mature trees, or settle in at the spacious outdoor dining table for an outdoor lunch, where you can enjoy the Otways breeze and watch the birdlife that comes to feed at the birdhouse.

Please note that although there is a TV in the living room and Bunk Bedroom to watch some old school classic movies on Blue-ray, we intentionally do not provide wifi to encourage our guests to "disconnect to reconnect" with themselves, each other and the spectacular nature at The Source, Otways. There is so much to explore - like private waterfalls and walking trails throughout the old growth rainforest on this totally private estate - as well as enjoy books and games provided for your leisure.

You will also find a washing machine and a dryer in the fully equipped laundry, should you need to freshen things up after a day out in the countryside and rainforest. And if there is anything else you require to make your stay more enjoyable, please feel welcome to ask.
